Synchronising nutrient supply and crop demand in modern cropping systems (GRDC)

The project investigates nitrogen transformations in long-term field trials to evaluate supply and demand of nitrogen fertility under different rotation and tillage scenarios. The project aims to understand when N is available in different systems relative to crop demand, and thereby manage the system to supply fertiliser N when needed and to provide sinks for N when in excess.

Funded by: Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC), UM, Victorian Department of Primary Industries (Vic DPI), La Trobe University, Incitec-Pivot (Orica), Birchip Cropping Group.

Research Team: Dr Rob Norton (Project leader) (UM), Dr Robert Edis (UM), Dr Roger Armstrong (Vic DPI), Ms Lauren Dart (UM).
