Research Interests:

Plant molecular genetics – Fungal disease resistance mechanisms, identification and characterisation of novel resistance genes and pathogen mating-type genes, genome mapping and quantitative trait loci analysis. Population genetics of pathogens; diversity and adaptation.

Isolation and manipulation of genes involved in unique biochemical pathways, to develop novel genotypes with improved quality and disease resistance characteristics.

Molecular genotyping – The use of new and novel molecular marker techniques for DNA fingerprinting for crop export quality assurance and PVR issues. Diagnostics of pulse fungal pathogens (Ascochyta sp., Colletotrichum truncatum).
