Current Research
Characterisation and selection of physical and chemical characters of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)
The project objectives were to:
1. Develope a novel set of breeding tools based upon knowledge generated, and
2. Develop germplasm containing superior physical seed quality and novel phytocompound characters
These will be achieved by:
A. Identification of the presence and distribution of seed-borne organic compounds that are novel phytocompounds
B. Identification of the number, effects and genomic locations of genes which condition seed quality traits
C. Production of molecular markers closely linked to seed quality characteristics
D. Development of efficient breeding tools for enabling targeted combinations of desired seed quality traits
