Molecular analysis of Goulburn Murray Water samples in relation to the determination of source of contamination
The project objectives are to:
1. To assess the suitability of water supply for its intended use by monitoring any potential pathogens entering and exiting channels or drains. The evaluation of water quality will be acheived by using traditional PCR and gene specific primers
2. To determine the quantity of potential pathogenic microbes in the water supply by utilizing Real-time PCR
3. To determine the point source of water contamination from both animal and human pathogens loading through microbial source tracking
This research project is supported by the Goulburn-Murray Rural Water Authority
