Research in Horticulture
When you are considering a Graduate Research Program there is no formal way to proceed. You can apply first, and decide on your topic at a later. If you have your topic in mind, you can try to find a suitable supervisor first. Or you can contact us with a general idea, and we can put you in touch with an academic who will be able to discuss your project.
Possible research topics in Horticulture include:
- Vegetation establishment and horticultural management with an emphasis on trees, turf, native grasslands and landscape plantings.
- Plant production technology and the recognition of sustainable management practices.
- Improving horticultural management by applications of new technology.
- Improved water management or urban vegetation.
- The amelioration and management of problems associated with plants growing in urban soils.
- Reconstruction and management of natural and semi-natural vegetation.
- Plant selection and breeding programs for urban landscapes.
- Heritage studies in environmental horticulture.
- Investigating plant protection strategies to improve management of the urban environment.
- DNA fingerprinting for cultivars identification and breeding of horticulture plants.
- In vitro propagation and breeding of ornamental horticulture plants.
- Gene transfer system for horticulture plants.
