Enterprise Rounds and Practice

Because agriculture is based on a wide array of skill requirements in the workplace and the need for workplace assessment, students will undertake a series of work placements called "enterprise rounds and enterprise placement. It is during these components the student will be able to apply theory and further develop their knowledge and skills. This component of the training is conducted in selected agricultural enterprises. The majority of the time is spent on farms but at least one enterprise round placement must be in a non-farm agricultural enterprise.

Year 1 enterprise rounds consists of 6 weeks on farm or in an other agricultural enterprise.

Year 2 enterprise practice consists of 12 weeks on farm.

Year 3 enterprise rounds consists of 3 weeks on farm or in an other agricultural enterprise.

Elective

Students undertaking the program have the requirement to complete an elective program equivalent to 100 hours. The elective will come from other approved programs and is designed to provide the student the opportunity to focus on specialist studies that will contribute to personal career aspirations. It is envisaged the elective will be undertaken from alternate training packages involving other educational institutions. The electives will enhance the philosophy of the course with examples of units being: journalism, meat or wool marketing, hospitality, retail or computer technology.

Course Assessment

The methods of assessment include written assignments, class tasks and activities, practical skill demonstrations and oral presentations.
