Eligibility

To gain admission to the course, applicants must have an interest in agriculture, are currently enrolled at a Victorian Secondary School and be able to participate in work experience/ employment on a farm. All participants must be able to attend off-the-job training when scheduled.

RTE 30103 Certificate III in Agriculture

This program is designed to develop knowledge and skills required of skilled personnel on dairy farms, at the operator level.

Duration

The traineeship will extend for up to 3 years depending upon the needs of the trainee or employer, but is normally conducted over 2 years.

During this period the trainee will work and undertake further training on the farm, supplemented by off the job training of a minimum of 20 days per year at one of the Faculty's campuses. This approach builds on the skills provided by employers on the property; the apprentices's skills acquired on the job being assessed in the workplace throughout the course.

Additionally, other units from the Agriculture Training Package may be included or substituted to a certain level to cater for individual training needs.

Eligibility

To gain admission to the course, applicants must be employed in the dairy industry:

  • as an apprentice under the new apprenticeship scheme; or
  • as an existing employee who wishes to formalise existing skills, or gain new work-related skills and knowledge; or
  • as a new employee who wishes to gain a qualification, without participating in the new apprenticeship program.

All course participants must be able to attend off-the-job training when scheduled. Those with appropriate experience are eligible to be assessed for prior learning and/or current competencies to gain credits towards the qualification.

RTE 40103 Certificate IV in Agriculture

This program is designed to develop knowledge and skills required of skilled personnel on dairy farms, including those at supervisory level.

The traineeship will extend up to 4 years depending upon the needs of the trainee or employer, but is normally conducted over 3 years.
