- Vegetation establishment and horticultural management with an emphasis on trees, turf, native grasslands and landscape plantings.
- Plant production technology and the recognition of sustainable management practices.
- Improving horticultural management by applications of new technology.
- Improved water management or urban vegetation.
- The amelioration and management of problems associated with plants growing in urban soils.
- Reconstruction and management of natural and semi-natural vegetation.
- Plant selection and breeding programs for urban landscapes.
- Heritage studies in environmental horticulture.
- Investigating plant protection strategies to improve management of the urban environment.
- DNA fingerprinting for cultivars identification and breeding of horticulture plants.
- In vitro propagation and breeding of ornamental horticulture plants.
- Gene transfer system for horticulture plants.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for admission to candidature for the Masters degree by research an applicant shall have qualified, at a sufficiently meritorious level, for the award of a degree or equivalent qualification, or another qualification which is deemed a suitable preparation for the work for the Masters degree. Previous experience will be taken into account in assessing suitability for candidature.
Assessment
Candidates are normally examined by submission of a research thesis.
