Choosing an Area of Study

If you are considering Honours you will need to look carefully at the options available to you. Your background, research interests, program structure and campus may affect your choice.

A critical element of success in Honours is choosing a research area that interests you. The Faculty of Land and Food Resources offers Honours programs in a wide range of disciplines.

If you are passionate about a particular area that is not offered by any department, don’t be afraid to approach your lecturers and tell them about your interests and research ideas. In many cases, your lecturers will be thrilled that you are interested in something and might try to design a project that meets your interests.

Honours Projects

We have compiled a list of potential Honours projects in differing fields of study to help you select a project.

In selecting a research project you should also view the faculty's research strengths and the research interests of staff for suggested projects.

Location

Students may choose a research project that is conducted on one of the University's campuses. Depending upon the project, we may be able to arrange an externally-based project so that your research can be conducted within an industry- or government research institute. Your supervisor may also be chosen from any one of our campuses (Burnley, Creswick, Dookie, or Parkville).
